We only deal with family law and are a team of specialist family lawyers with many years of experience and a wealth of knowledge. We focus on client care and cost-effective resolution of your issues, not billing targets (our lawyers don’t have billing targets).
We have built connections with financial and pension advisers, will-writers, support services and divorce coaches so can point you to like-minded professionals in those areas who understand the other issues you might be facing in addition to the legal ones we are helping with.
Solicitors will be registered with the Law Society and registered and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Divorce and family law can be complex and can change rapidly. Your lawyer being a specialist is important. Most specialist family lawyers are members of Resolution which is a national group of family lawyers who abide by a Code of Practice to work in a non-confrontational way.
Experience is not everything but it helps. Specialist family lawyers know court can be unpredictable and extremely costly; it should be seen as a last resort. Years of experience means your lawyer can provide a more objective view on the likely outcome so you can make informed decisions about how to proceed.
Word of mouth recommendations can be helpful but also look at testimonials from former clients.
Do they offer helpful information and guidance on their website and explain the process and your options clearly?
We realise you have a choice of family law solicitors to assist with your divorce and financial settlements, separation or child contact issues. We are specialists in family law so you can feel confident you will always receive up to date, balanced, expert advice and support in all aspects of family law.
In most cases making an application to court should be a last resort, it is costly, time consuming and can be unpredictable. Sometimes the intervention of the court is necessary to secure your position, enforce an existing order or protect your child but we will always strive to resolve matters by agreement where possible.
We take a non-adversarial approach, we will ‘fight’ hard for our clients when necessary but we always discuss possible compromises that may be acceptable to you as soon as we have sufficient information to do so. We fully endorse and adhere to the Resolution Code of Conduct and the Family Law Protocol which places an obligation on family lawyers to work in a non-confrontational and constructive way to preserve people’s dignity and to encourage agreements.
Your situation is unique and you can be assured we treat it as such. Clients often say to us, ‘I expect you will have heard this all before?’ or ‘I’m sure it’s the same for all your clients’. We don’t agree; no two cases are ever the same. We work hard, both for you, and with you, to identify what matters most to you and your family, what the relevant issues and greatest concerns are and how best to secure an appropriate and acceptable resolution.
We know the costs of legal representation are a concern. We will offer a fixed fee for work if possible so you know the exact costs at the outset. If we are unable to offer a fixed fee you will always be provided with a costs estimate in advance of any work being undertaken and we are happy to specify a costs limit beyond which we will not go without your further authorisation. You can instruct us as little or as much as you wish; for intermittent ad hoc advice whilst you attend mediation or negotiate directly with the other party, just for a court hearing, or for a ‘full service’ dealing with all aspects of your matter on your behalf so you do not need to have any communication with the other party or their lawyers about the issues.
Thank you so very much for your expert advice and guidance over the past 3 years. As I say I just can’t believe what an amazing effect it has had on me since walking from the court yesterday! I don’t mind saying as I walked back to the car park I shed a few tears of total relief of my nightmares finally coming to an end! Life can now start again and I can look forward with so much more positivity and control of it.Mr J.S.
Thank you so much for all your hard work. You have been brilliant throughout from start to finish. I'm putting the house on the market this week. Once again thank you so much.Mrs E.M.
Huge, Huge thanks for all your help, support, hard work and legal advice, it has felt like a long journey from when I first sat in your office but suddenly the case is resolved. The arrival of my Decree Absolute happened to coincide with my collection of a new car so it was a monumental day and truly marked a new chapter in our lives, thank you for making that possibleMrs L.K.
